BiblesinAction - Bible League of New Zealand

We are funding partners with Bible League International who are one of the world's largest evangelical, non-denominational Bible placement ministries.

We support the body of Christ wherever it is impoverished, persecuted or oppressed in more than 55 countries. With help from friends like you, we equip local Christians to plant Bibles, plant churches and share God's love in the hardest, most hostile, most resource-poor places on earth.

Since being founded in 1938, we have produced more than 750 million Scriptures, and currently place God's Word in approximately 120 languages around the world.

Our history

The ministry began in 1938 when the founder William Chapman and his wife purchased 1,000 Bibles in faith and went door-to-door in Walkerton, Indiana, USA.  They gave a Bible to anyone in exchange for a promise to read it.

Chapman could not have imagined the impact across the globe today as a result of his humble service. He could not have comprehended that God would use Him to launch a worldwide ministry more than 70 years ago.

Each year, we measure the impact people like you make through your gifts and prayers. Since documented reports from 1989, we have reached more than 700 language groups, seen nearly 37 million people complete a Bible study, and led 5 million into church membership through evangelisation training.

From underground churches, house churches, and indigenous culture churches gathering under trees, one thing remains true—spiritual transformation is happening across the globe. The great commission ministry of William Chapman that began more than 70 years ago is alive and well today.

What we believe

Mission

We are called by God to provide Scriptures and training worldwide so that people prepared by the Holy Spirit will be brought into fellowship with Christ and His Church.

We accomplish our mission effectively by:

  1. Planting Bibles, Bible study materials, and training local Christians, so they can lead people to Christ and disciple them toward spiritual maturity.
  2. Equipping indigenous churches with Bibles, Bible study materials and discipleship training, so they can establish Bible studies and new churches where there are none.
  3. Planting Bibles among persecuted Christians, to strengthen their faith and empower them to share Christ with more people.
  4. Fostering partnerships with national churches, Bible and translation agencies, and other missions worldwide to help meet the critical Bible need.

Statement of Faith

  1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
  2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  3. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
  4. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
  5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life.
  6. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
  7. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Bible League International offices and staff worldwide adhere to this statement of faith, established by the United States Association of Evangelicals.
